Emergency department taskforce introduces measures to tackle overcrowding

Its to meet again at the end of January to discuss long term solutions to hospital overcrowding.
It's after today's meeting outlined short term measures to tackle the crisis, including the curtailment of non-urgent elective procedures and an increase in diagnostics.
Last week saw a record number of people on trolleys today there were 555 people waiting on trolleys across the country with 74 of those in Cork.
Earlier today Cork University Hospital transferred 15 patients to private hospitals due to overcrowding.
Health Minister Simon Harris says he remain in regular contact with the chief executives of the country's hospital groups and senior HSE over the coming days.
General Secretary of the INMO Phil Ni Sheaghda says the momentum can't end once the current problems are solved.
