Emergency flooding work begins in Blackpool

There's been a broad welcome to emergency flood prevention works which began in Blackpool village today. Residents who have been campaigning for the past two years to secure funding for the works say they've been living in fear of a repeat of the flood damage they experienced in June 2012. The Blackpool Flood Committee have been in discussions with the city council on a monthly basis for the past two years and have also mounted protests in an effort to progress the works.
