Emotions Running High At Protest Over Leeside Apartment Evictions

Emotions are running high on Bachelor's Quay in the city centre this evening where a protest is underway by residents of an apartment block who are facing eviction.
Tenants of the Leeside Apartment complex have been served with a 'notice to quit' by their landlord who claims they need to vacate the property for refurbishment works.
There a number of students living in the complex and a number of families are among the 23 residential tenancies that are based there.
It's gained national attention with calls being made in the Dáil for an elimination of the so called 'eviction loophole' which allows landlords to evict tenants if refurbishment works need to be carried out.
Dominic has been a resident in the apartment block for the past seven years and he told RedFM News that his family is finding it very difficult to find anywhere else to live and time is running out for them:
