Emotions running high in Skibbereen after planning decision for planned plastics factory quashed

Locals say emotions are running high in Skibbereen today after yesterday's decision in the High Court to quash An Bord Pleanala's decision to give permission for a plastics factory in the town.
The Save Our Skibbereen campaign group fought a two year battle after planning permission was granted for the facility at Poundlick on the Baltimore Road.
Hundreds turned out a public meeting in the town this time last year to voice their concerns about the project, with many expressing fears about the potential impact on the environment, tourism and local industry in Roaring Water Bay.

Brendan McCarthy of the Save Our Skibbereen campaign is a local living next to the site where the factory was due to be built, and he told RedFM News it was a David vs. Goliath scenario and he personally had a lot on the line.
He says he and the entire town is overcome with emotion:
