Environmental Enforcement Agency requests more information from Save Cork City

The European Commission's Environmental Enforcement Agency has written to the Save Cork City group for further information in relation to a complaint the group made over the proposed flood defences for the city.
The original complaint, which was lodged last September, claims that flood defnce schemes have failed to live up to obligations that are required by EU law around habitat protection, floods and water management along with environmental considerations.
The Save Cork City group are opposed to the Lower Lee Flood Relief Scheme as they say it won't solve the flooding problem long term and will affect the historic fabric of the city with its emphasis on raised quay walls.
The Environmental Enforcement Agency says while they share some of the concerns raised they are not planning to take any action at this stage while the Save Cork City Group are examining pursuing the matter further and lodging a more focused complaint.
