Environmental Group Threaten OPW With Legal Action Over Bandon Flood Defence Project

Environmental group Friends of the Irish Environment have threatened the OPW with legal action over the controversial Bandon flood defence project.

The group are calling on the OPW to stop work following an increase in construction activity along the river bed.

The Irish Examiner reports that the work is taking place despite the schemes own planning documents advising that in-stream works should be restricted to between May and September to minimise the impact on salmon

Work started on the €16 million project in May 2017
