Explosive Device Made Safe In Kinsale

The device, thought to be a World War II mine, was made safe by an Army Bomb Disposal team

A World War Two shell found by fishermen off the coast of Kinsale has been made safe by the Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal team.

 

The shell was brought ashore yesterday evening at Kinsale Pier.

 

The area was cordoned off by Gardaí while the Harbour Master issued an urgent notice for people to avoid the area.

 

Army bomb disposal experts arrived at the scene and the device was made safe.
