Extended review of homicide cases could see further rise in number of unlawful killings

The Justice Minister has welcomed the fact that the CSO has resumed publishing crime statistics.

A review of homicides saw a 43 percent increase in manslaughter, and a 39 percent rise in dangerous driving causing death. 

Murders went down slightly, while infanticide stayed static.

But as statistician Olive Loughnane explains, the review of manslaughter cases has now been extended, so could see a further rise.
