Extension Of City Boundary To Be Discussed By Council Tonight

The proposed extension of the city boundary will be up for discussion at a special meeting of the City Council this evening.

The meeting comes after the County Council issued their proposal on the boundary extension to City Hall at the start of the month..

 

Their proposal includes extending the city boundary to increase the population by about a third to more than 160,000.

However the Mackinnion report has proposed increasing the population to 225,000.

 

Ahead of tonight's meeting Cork City Council re-iterated it's commitment to working  constructively with the new Cork Local Government Implementation Oversight Group established by the Housing Minister..

 

Speaking in advance of the meeting County Mayor Declan Hurley told RedFM News that he believes the two Councils have to work together so the region can achieve its' maximum potential
