Extradition process of Ian Bailey begins

Ian Bailey has been released on bail following his arrest as part of the latest attempt to have him extradited to France.
He’s wanted there to stand trial for the murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier, who was found dead near her holiday home in Schull in west Cork in December 1996.
Ian Bailey was arrested twice but has never been charged with anything in this jurisdiction.
The 60-year-old was arrested on foot of a French-issued European Arrest Warrant that was endorsed by the High Court this morning.
The extradition process will now get underway with an initial hearing due to take place on Friday week.
