Families Suffering Domestic Violence Unable To Leave Due To Housing Crisis

Families across Cork are having to choose between staying in abusive relationships or face homelessness.

That's according to the Domestic Violence Information Resource Centre who say lack of adequate housing in the city means many are afraid to leave dangerous relationships because of the fear of becoming homeless.

The centre says they have seen an increase in the number of people seeking help from both physical and psychological domestic abuse across the city and county this year.

They are calling on the Government to ensure building more social housing is a priority for 2018 so families are not trapped in dangerous situations:
