The family of Kimberly O'Connor say their lives are shattered following the death of the 16 year old on Wednesday night.
The popular transition year student was killed close to her home when the car she was a passenger in struck a wall on Harbour View Road in Knocknaheeny.
Kimberly's family have released a statement describing her as a kind and generous person who had visited orphanages in India and played a leading role in two musicals at her secondary school.
Two boys were also injured in the collision, one of them critically, while the second fled the scene and later sought medical treatment.
Gardaí have concluded a technical exam of the area and the road has since reopened.
