Fatalities On Cork Roads Continue To Rise
13 people have lost their lives on Cork roads so far this year.
It follows the fatalities of two American Tourists who died following a three car collision on the Cork- Mallow road yesterday.
62-year-old James Baker from Columbia Indiana, and 57-year-old Peggy Sue Adams from Ohio were on holidays with their partners who were also in the car and were taken to Cork University Hospital with non life threatening injuries.
The truck driver and the occupant of a third car which was also ivolved in the collision were all taken to Cork University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Two women and a seven year old boy also died yesterday after the car they were traveling in collided with a truck on the N17 at Lisduff in Mayo.
It brings the total number of people who have died on Ireland's roads to 109 - 22 less than the same time last year.
Speaking to RedFM News RSA's Brian Farrell says the reduction is encouraging, but the figure is still too high:
