Fatigue A Factor In ESB Crew Efforts To Restore Thousands To The Grid

The ESB say fatigue is becoming a concern for crews that have been working long hours since Storm Ophelia struck Cork on Monday.

Extra ESB crews have been drafted in from around the country to Cork along with the defence forces to help get the 56,000 customers who are off the power grid back online.

The army was drafted in this morning to help with the cutting and lifting of timber off ESB sites in an effort to help speed up reconnection times.

It's hoped that the majority of customers who have been without power since Monday will be re-connected over the next 48 hours as crews work from first light to 10 o'clock at night.

Denis Cambridge of the ESB told RedFM News that they are trying to manage crew welfare in order to keep everyone safe.
