Fears raised about overcrowded emergency departments

Overcrowded emergency departments will come closer to being shut down next month than at any point over the past ten years. That's according to an emergency consultant in Cork, amid staffing concerns being voiced by the Irish Association for Emergency Medicine. The group says problems recruiting qualified doctors mean hospitals are facing a 'staffing meltdown' in those departments. Doctor Chris Luke is a consultant in emergency medicine at Cork University and the Mercy University Hospitals says there's a real fear that some may have to shut their doors Press PLAY button above to listen to the audio
