Fianna Fail Leader Hits Out At the Delay In Cork's Stalled Events Centre

Michéal Martin says it's stifling tourism in the city
He has accused the Government of engaging in the "worst piece of modern-day electoral cynicism" in relation to the project which he said is stifling tourism in the city
The Events Centre has faced significant delays since contractors BAM and the venue’s operators, Live Nation, first won a competitive tender in 2014
An initial €20 million in public funding was awarded to the project however following a detailed internal re-design developers requested an additional €18 million in state support.
The stalled project is continuing to cause concern in the city as the outcome of a request for additional public funding is still unknown.
