Figures show Anti Drink Driving message not reaching young men

Three quarters of young men aged 17 to 34, who were involved in fatal crashes over a four year period in Ireland, had alcohol in their systems.

That's according to the Road Safety Authority which says Cork had the highest number of road fatalities involving alcohol in the country between 2008 and 2012.

The RSA says alcohol was a contributory factor in 38% of all fatal collisions nationwide, claiming the lives of 286 people.

Cork County was the worst offender with over 10% of all road deaths attributed to alcohol compared to less than 1% in Carlow and Waterford.

Speaking to RedFM News Maggie Martin, Research Manager with the RSA says the anti drink drive message needs to be hammered home
