Finance Minister Denies Leniency Towards Banks In Tracker Mortgage Scandal

The Finance Minister's rejecting claims he's being too soft on the banks over the tracker mortgage scandal.

The banks said yesterday they will compensate more than 12,000 customers by Christmas.

 

But in the Dáil last night, opposition TD's said Paschal Donohoe had failed to extract any cast-iron commitments from mortgage lenders.

 

Minister Donohoe says the banks must follow through on their promises, or else he will take action on behalf of those affected:
