Finance Minister: Ireland remains committed to international tax rules deal-despite refusing to sign it yesterday

Yesterday only nine out of 139 countries didn't support the OECD's framework, which is due to be finalised in October.

Paschal Donohoe says Ireland opposes the plans for a global corporation tax rate of at least 15 per cent.

Economics lecturer at UCC, Seamus Coffey, says the Minister took a strong stance yesterday:

"I think Ireland has taken a strong step to have significant reservations and it's likely that other countries have significant reservations, but have signed the statement. Ireland decided not to sign it and I think that's quite a strong move and maybe one that indicates that Ireland would take a similar view if the EU was to try and legislate for some of this."
