Finance Minister stands by USC plans
It follows criticisms from the European Commission.
The Finance Minister's sticking with plans to abolish the Universal Social Charge - despite criticism from Brussels.
The European Commission says scrapping the charge will narrow the tax base and could hamper how Ireland would deal with any further financial crisis.
It also has concerns about funding for Irish Water and the postponement of the revaluation of the Local Property Tax.
Answering questions in the Dáil this afternoon, Michael Noonan stood by government plans on the Universal Social Charge:
