Fire Breaks Out In City Centre Restaurant

Four units of Cork City Fire brigade responded to a blaze at a restaurant in the city last night.
The fire broke out at Elbow Lane on Oliver Plunkett Street at around 10 o'clock last night
It took firefighters over four hours to bring the blaze under control and at the height of the fire patrons from neighbouring commercial premises were evacuated as a precautionary measure
No-one was injured in the blaze the cause of which is under investigation but at this stage it appears an electrical fault in the restaurant is to blame
Gardai closed the upper section of Oliver Plunkett Street from the restaurant to the the GPO until 3 o'clock this morning to facilitate firefighters
