Fire service battles gorse fires
Units from the county fire service attended a number of call outs for gorse fires in the county since yesterday.
Crews from Schull, Bantry and Castletownbere responded to calls in Ballydehob, Ahakista, Glengarrif and Glandore last night and overnight.
Fire fighters from Dunmanway spent six hours fighting a gorse fire in Derrylahane and returned base less than an hour ago, however they have since been tasked to another gorse fire on Capeen Road.
The burning of land is illegal since March 1st and the County Fire Service is asking landowners to stop all controlled burning immediately.
