Flood Defence Proposals For Cork To Be Examined By A New Committee On Climate Action

The committee has been established by the City Council
The committee was set up after the council unanimously declared a climate and bio-diversity emergency in the City.
It will also review the Cork Metropolitan Area Transport Study to ensure these projects are environmentally conscious and have a sustainable approach
They're due to hold their first meeting within three months..
It comes as plans for Cork's long awaited flood defence scheme could Be Submitted For Confirmation to the Public Expenditure Minister by the end of the year
The Office of Public Works are currently working on some design changes to the €140 million scheme after the plans went on public display at the end of 2016
Speaking to RedFM News Ezra McManamon of the OPW says once these changes are completed the scheme will be submitted to the Minister
