Flood fears raised by Blackpool traders after Monard is given the green light

The new town of Monard is to be developed around 4km from Blarney
The PRO of the National Flood Forum has slammed a decision by An Bord Pleanala to give the green light for a new Cork town...
Monard is to be developed around 4km from Blarney and upon completion is expected to be home to around 17,000 people.
Local traders in Blackpool are worried that the town could have a negative impact on the flood relief works that have been developed for the village based on the flow of water coming through Blackpool at the moment
They say there has been no proper impact assessment done on the major road infrastructure needed to sustain this new town
Speaking to RedFM News Blackpool based Ger Buckley says his objections to the new town are based on fears that it may add to the flows of water that's already coming into the village
