Food Poverty Is A Year Round Issue For Some Cork Families Due To Rising Rents

St Vincent de Paul which says one in three calls it receives are related to food poverty

Food poverty is a year round issue for some families in Cork already struggling with rising rents.

That's according to St Vincent de Paul which says one in three calls it receives are related to food poverty.

The charity says food is an area of expenditure that families have discretion over on a day-to-day basis and when times are tough they cut back on their food bills

Speaking to RedFM News Dr Tricia Keilthy of St Vincent de Paul says rising rents are forcing people to cut back on these bills particularly at pinch points such as Christmas and Back To School time
