Former Lord Mayor Of Cork Says Supervised Injection Centres Have The Potential To Saves Lives

Cllr Mick Finn was speaking after homeless charity Merchant's Quay lodged an appeal against a decision to reject plans for an injection centre in Dublin.
Earlier this year the HSE said the future of any such facility in Cork would depend on the success or otherwise of the facility in Dublin.
A study has identified Grand Parade and Oliver Plunkett Street as locations where injection centres could be set up in the city.
The study also found that of 58 fatal overdoses in the city, 11 happened in a public building while a further 11 people died on the street.
