Former Master Of Holles Street Hospital: "Utterly Ludicrous" That National Maternity Hospital Will Be Built On Land Leased From Private Charity

Under the proposal, the State would rent the 28 acre site, in Dublin 4 from St Vincent's Holdings
Yesterday the Tanaiste said he believes there are problems with the plans.
Dr Peter Boylan says the charity will have the right to govern and sell the facility, if it goes ahead:
"It's utterly ludicrous that the first major capital expenditure programme or project, the building of the new National Maternity Hospital, should be funded by the state, and then handed over to a private company, which can sell any of the hospitals it owns, including the National Maternity Hospital etc. and, which has the Catholic ethos in its constitution."
