Former Millstreet Direct Provision Centre Resident Says She Was So Happy To Leave The Facility

She spoke out to RedFM News ahead of this weekend's protest in Daunt Square at 1pm where calls will be made for an end to the system of Direct Provision and deportations.

Noma Maye says she felt bad leaving others behind in there.

It follows comments by TD Noel Grealish who made reference to 'economic migrants' from Africa who he said come to Ireland to "sponge off the system". 

Meanwhile Cork TD Michael Collins has also spoken out in recent days about the ability of the State to re-house people in Direct Provision.

Speaking to RedFM News former resident of a Millstreet Direct Provision Centre Noma Maye says asylum seekers are not here to sponge off the state, and that mindest is cruel and unfair:
