Fresh Calls For Clarity On The Events Centre Project

City Councillors are to be briefed at the end of January as the 1 year anniversary of the sod turning ceremony fast approaches

Alf Smiddy has moved to defend his comments on the Events Centre after he said the citizens of Cork deserve answers in relation to the stalled project.

The former managing director of the Beamish & Crawford Brewery, says he has an historical connection with the site and the public have a right to know how the €20 million in taxpayers money allocated to the project is to be spent.

The developers are to brief city councillors on the €50 million project at the end of the month as the one year anniversary of the sod turning ceremony by the Taoiseach at the former brewery site fast approaches.

Alf Smiddy says the citizens of Cork deserve answers after the City Council dedicated €8 million in public money and the Government pledged €12 million to the project.

Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show on Cork's RedFM Alf Smiddy says clarity on the project is urgently needed
