Fresh Concerns Raised Over Impact Of Fires At Recycling And Waste Facilities In Cork

The concerns follow a major blaze at a recycling plant at Sarsfield Court Industrial Estate over the weekend

The fire took 12 crews from the city and county over 12 hours to extinguish.

A number of fires have occurred at the Greenstar recycling plant in Glanmire in the last five years including one that took three days to bring under control, while another fire in October 2017 caused major damage to the facility.

Speaking to Mick Mulcahy on the Neil Prendeville show on Cork's RedFM Councillor Ted Tynan says more needs to be done to make recycling and waste facilities safer:
