Fresh protest at Churchfield against waste transfer facility

The entrance to a waste transfer facility in Churchfield was the scene of tension this morning as protesters put plans in place to escalate their campaign to relocate the waste operations from the area. Protesters who formed an early morning blockade were divided on whether to move or face arrest as gardaí arrived on scene. Following a group decision some protetsers decided to move their campaign to City Hall and in the past few minutes two buses have arrived to transport them. The remainder have chosen to stay at the scene and say they're happy to be arrested in their fight for the removal of the waste transfer facility.... It's the second protest this week at the facility and campaigners are calling on the city council to intervene and move the waste operations to the bottle hill super dump. Local resident Maurice Sheehan has been telling RedFM News about the escalation of the protest: Press PLAY button above to listen to the audio
