Students will protest in Cork, Dublin and eight other locations around the country this lunchtime over climate action, as part of the global Fridays for Future demonstrations.
However, Gardaí have not approved the strike in Dublin over health and safety reasons, due to issues with previous demonstrations.
James Dunne is taking part in the protest in the capital and he says other demonstrations will also take place across the country;
