Funding announced for outdoor play

The government has announced €6m in funding for outdoor play to support children and their families as restrictions ease.
The Summer of Play initiative will provide grants to Early Learning and Care and School-Age Childcare services.
Funding will also be provided to local authorities to ensure that playgrounds are safe and inclusive for all children.
Chair of Seas Suas, which represents independent childcare providers in Ireland, Regina Bushell, says play is so important for children.
"It's really important for their well being, it's important for their social activities, it's important for their creativities.
"It's a holistic requirement for children to be able to be outdoors, and there are some great resources on https://www.gov.ie/en/publication/lets-play-links-and-resources/ for parents and families."
