Funding confirmed for properties damaged by floods

€5 million is set to be made available.

The Taoiseach's confirmed an emergency fund for small businesses that have suffered flood damage and were unable to get insurance. 

The 5 million euro fund is to be administered by the Red Cross and applications will be considered in the coming days.

It's on top of a fund for homeowners who need help. 

Bandon was one of the towns worst hit in the country when the high winds and heavy rainfall of Storm Desmond caused the river to burst it's banks at the weekend. 

Enda Kenny's also warned that further flooding is likely in the days ahead as levels on the River Shannon continue to rise. 

And he says it could take some time for flood water to clear:
