Funding secured for city centre action plan

It is expected to take place over the next two years.

A two year plan to re-energize the city centre over the next couple of years is to get underway in Cork.

The action plan includes a number of initiatives including a 'Pimp My Street' competition that will see €25,000 set aside per year for developments proposed by local communities in their area, the repair of the statue on Fr Matthew Street and the upgrade of Albert Wharf.

Cork City Council says the developments will be implemented with a partnership approach including working with businesses, gardaí and city hall officials.

Speaking to RedFM News, Senior Planner at City Hall Ann Bogan says funding has been secured for the two year action plan which was born out of a city centre strategy report.
