Further delays on the cards for Ringaskiddy incinerator decision

A decision on the controversial Ringaskiddy incinerator is facing further delays. 

An Bord Pleanála was due to issue a decision on the plans for the €160 million facility next week however The Irish Examiner reports that the planning board have confirmed a decision is not imminent.

It's the third delay on the application by Indaver which was initially given a July 2016 deadline.

The Cork Harbour Alliance for a Safe Environment which has been campaigning against the project has slammed this further delay.

Health and safety concerns and the impact on tourism were among the issues raised by the group at a 17-day oral hearing into the plans last April.

That hearing was the subject of large protests and 220 submissions including those made by Fine Gael's Simon Coveney and Fianna Fáil's Mícheal Martin.
