Further Drops In Landlords Expected To Effect Rental Market

30% of landlords intend to sell their property as soon as they can.

That's according to the Irish Property Owners' Association who say over 40,000 landlords have left the market in the past 5 years.

The property tax, a reduction in mortgage interest allowance and the Universal Social Charge among others, have been cited as reasons for the decline in availability of rental property.

The IPOA say if the current tax treatment of landlords continues, there will be even less property available in the future.

It comes as students in Cork and around the country are finding it difficult to secure accommodation ahead of the beginning of the academic year.
