Gardai advised participants of Irish Examiner Cork City Marathon to leave plenty of time to get to the start line

Over 10,000 participants are expected to descend on the city tomorrow, and many traffic restrictions are in place as a result

Due to the high number of those taking part, extra Gardai have been drafted in, as well as 600 volunteers to ensure the event  goes as smoothly as possible.

Cork's RedFM are media partners for this years event, which is taking place on a Sunday for the first time ever.

Speaking to RedFM News Garda Inspector Finbarr O'Sullivan from Anglesea Street says there have been changes to the route this year.
