Gardai arrest man in connection with the murder of a woman in Cork

Nicola Collins was found dead with head injuries in a flat on the northside of the city five months ago
The 42 year old man originally from Charleville but with an address in Farranree was arrested in connection with the death of Nicola.
The mother of three was found with extensive head injuries in a flat on Popham's Road Farranee at around 3:30 on the 27th of March.
Emergency services had been alerted to the scene by a man who was living in the flat but were unable to revive her and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gardai investigating her death had previously arrested two men for questioning, but both were released without charge and Gardai began preparing a file for the DPP.
Today's arrest comes after Gardai received new information following results of a post-mortem examination and toxicology tests on the body of Nicola.
The man is currently being questioned at Mayfield Garda Station where he is being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act which allows Gardai hold suspects for 24 hours.
