Gardaí asking people to leave enough room for emergency vehicles when parking near Cork beaches

It follows a number of incidents last weekend where roads were partially blocked and cars were hemmed in by motorists who were double parked.
The County Fire Service say their crews have been delayed getting to calls due to poor parking, while Gardaí are warning they will be patrolling beaches and will issue on the spot fines for illegal and dangerous parking.
Speaking to RedFM News, Inspector Kay O’Donoghue from Bantry Garda Station has this appeal for motorists:
"All we're asking for really is for people to park logically, responsibly and to think of others really. You never know what the day or the hour when we in the emergency services with our colleagues from the Ambulance Service, and the Fire Brigade would have to go and respond to a major emergency. Parking has been hugely, hugely problematic. Down in smaller beaches, and in the bigger beaches like the likes of Inchydoney, Ballyrisode,Barleycove- right across Cork County so I'd just ask the public really to just think about other people."
