Gardai Await Post Mortem On Body Found In East Cork

Gardai are hoping that a post-mortem today will clarify what exactly happened to a 71 year old retired factory work found with over 30 stab wounds at a house in East Cork. The body of the man, named locally as Alan Lee, was found in the kitchen of the cottage where he lived alone at Knockgorm near Cloyne at around 12 noon yesterday. Assistant State Pathologist, Dr Margaret Bolster carried out a preliminary examination of Mr Lee's body at the scene before his remains were removed to Cork University Hospital. Gardai say Dr Bolster's post-mortem at CUH today will determine the course that their investigation and they are continuing to treat the death as suspicious pending the autopsy. However Garda sources have pointed out that there was no sign of any break-in at the house. They was also no sign of any defensive wounds on the man's arms.
