Gardai called to Nohoval farm as herd auction gets under way

The auction, at the Kingston family farm, was ordered by the banks

Gardai are on duty outside a farm in Nohoval after up to 50 people gathered on the roadway this morning near Crayden Hill farm as the family are being forced to sell 1,000 dairy cows.

More than 200 potential buyers have arrived at the farm, owned by the Kingston family,  for the auction which was ordered by the banks..

The auction, was ordered following a High Court ruling on a charge in relation to a debt associated with the Kingston farm, is expected to take place throughout the course of the day.

The herd, was seized from Peter and Tracey Kingston's well-known Crayden Hill farm, after ACC was awarded a €2.4m judgment against the couple.

The Kingston family became known to a national audience when they featured in Ireland's Fittest Family two years ago.
