Gardai Continue To Investigate Cork Stabbing
Gardai investigating a stabbing in Cork City centre on Tuesday night believe the victim knew his attacker. A 27 year old man was stabbed four times at the junction of St Patrick’s Street with Winthrop Street at around 2.30am. The victim with an address in the city was rushed to CUH, where his injuries were described as not life-threatening. Gardaí arrested a 41-year-old man at the scene of the attack - for an alleged public order offence but he was later released without charge. Both men are known to gardai and detectives quizzed the stab victim yesterday. Gardaí believe that the stabbing was linked to an earlier verbal altercation between the two men, who had been among a group gathered on MacCurtain Street.
