Gardai continue to monitor traffic levels Leeside

Gardai say they are monitoring the volumes of traffic in the city particularly in morning and evening rush hour which has intensified in the last number of weeks.
The issue was also raised by City Councillors last night with some claiming that the Council must accept that the infrastructure cannot support the volumes of traffic in the city and suburbs..
The reduced capacity with bus lanes and cycle lanes in the city are also adding to the traffic congestion
Gardai say traffic numbers in the city are rising year on year and points out that in 2015 there were 25 million car movements on the South Ring alone with 80,000 cars using the Jack Lynch Tunnel every day...
Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show Inspector Finbarr O'Sullivan of the Garda Traffic Corps says motorists need to considering car pooling and allowing more time for their rush hour commute
