Gardai In Cork Have Arrested A Man On Suspicion Of Drug Driving In The City Centre Yesterday, And Have Also Seized A Machete

The incident happened late last night
Shortly after 11.30 last night, Gardaí from the Roads Policing Unit in Cork city were carrying out a Covid19 checkpoint on Sunday's Well Road.
It was here that a van approached the checkpoint it turned and attempted to evade Gardaí.
The van was stopped and the driver was given a roadside drug test which returned a positive result for cocaine.
Gardaí also carried out a search of the van and found a machete.
A man in his 20s was been arrested and taken to Gurranabraher Garda Station and later released.
A file will be prepared for the DPP.
