Gardaí in Cork hope for more recruits Leeside

It comes as the Justice Minister confirmed 500 gardaí will be recruited next year.
Gardaí in Cork are hoping a greater number of recruits will be allocated Leeside than what was deployed from the last batch of Templemore graduates.
The Minister for Justice has today confirmed that at least 500 gardai will be recruited next year amid calls for more resources to tackle recent increases in crime.
Over the past seven years the Cork City Garda division alone has lost approximately 100 members of the force, and only five were allocated to the division out of the last Templemore batch.
The Minister is also under pressure over crime in rural areas which gardaí say is on the increase due to the closure of a number of garda stations across Cork including Adrigole and Ballinspittle.
Speaking to RedFM News Michael Corcoran of the Cork City branch of the GRA says lack of resources are reducing the effectiveness of the force in Cork.
