Gardai issue fresh warning about conman working in Cork

Gardai have issued a fresh warning to the public about a conman who is targetting elderly people in Cork after a 90 year old woman was duped out of €700
The man, who claimed to be from Irish Water, called to the woman's home on Tower Street and told her he needed to examine the water pipes in her home as he was investigating a leak.
The Evening Echo reports that the elderly woman allowed him in and the following day discovered that €700 was missing.
A fortnighht ago Gardai had issued a warning about a conman who is preying on elderly people living alone and stealing sums of cash.
In some cases the man was pretending to be a plainclothes detective or an employees of Eir and was targeting vulnerable elderly people usually living in remote and isolated rural areas.
