Gardai Out In Force For National Slow Down Day

Up to lunchtime 34,000 vehicles had been detected
Speed checks have been mounted on roads right across the country in an effort to remind motorists to watch their speed and drive according to weather conditions.
All road users are being advised to exercise extreme care today as Met Éireann is forecasting heavy rain and a risk of thundery downpours throughout Cork this evening and tonight.
The expected rainfall will bring to an end the dry spell which poses added dangers to road users leading to greasy road surfaces and slippery road conditions.
Speaking to RedFM News Inspector Finbarr O'Sullivan of the Garda Traffic Corps based at Anglesea Street says drivers need to adjust their behaviour to suit the changing conditions:
