Gardaí say they've recovered thousands of stolen bikes in Cork which cannot be returned to their owners as they're unmarked.
The 'Lock It or Lose It' campaign was launched yesterday in a bid to encourage people to safely secure their bicycles and mark them in case they are ever stolen.
Almost €2 million euro worth of bicycles have been stolen since 2016 and it's feared if the trend continues it will discourage people from cycling which is just one of the activities city officials are trying to promote as part of the City Centre Movement Strategy.
Speaking to RedFM News crime prevention officer Sgt Tony Davis says Ballincollig garda station is full of bikes that cannot be identified:
