Gardai to clamp down on motorists in Cork

It comes as Cork has the highest number of road fatalities in the country

Gardaí are warning Cork motorists that additional checkpoints will be mounted right across the city and county in the coming weeks. 

It follows recent figures which show Cork has the highest number of road fatalities in the country, with 17 people losing their lives since January.

A number of agencies in Cork have come together to tackle the rising death toll and will be focusing on enforcement, education and engineering in an an effort to make the roads safer as we head into the dark and wet Winter months. 

Speaking to RedFM News Superintendent Pat Lehane says Gardai will be maintaining an increased presence around the city and county.
